ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of shots fired in the Roseburg area Wednesday morning.

At 5:42 a.m., the 911 center received multiple reports of gunfire heard in the 600 block of Happy Valley Road in Roseburg.

Authorities say one caller reported he heard a vehicle crash, armed himself with a firearm, and went outside where he found a pickup in his yard.

According to the sheriff's office, the caller yelled at the driver not to move. The caller's son, also armed with a firearm, came out of the house.

Police say both the caller and his son fired several shots at the vehicle, at which point the driver fled in the pickup.

It's not clear from the report why they fired on the vehicle.

The pickup was later located by deputies at Poteet Boat Ramp on Parkhurst Ct. in Roseburg with apparent bullet holes, but the occupants of the pickup were not around the vehicle.

Witnesses reported seeing a man running from the vehicle.

Deputies searched the area, but didn't locate anyone associated with the pickup.

Police say there were no indications at the scene or in the pickup that the man was injured.

The investigation is continuing as of Wednesday morning.

Roseburg and Winston police departments assisted at the scene.
