'Toddler Yoga' a hit at Coos History Museum
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Toddlers and their parents are stretching out at the Coos History Museum thanks to a new program.
Toddler Yoga began in October and organizers say many have taken advantage of the opportunity so far.
Kids are learning traditional yoga poses as well as singing and playing games.
Organizers say toddler yoga helps develop the children's motor and social skills.
"We just moved to the area and just started the yoga program,” said attendee Christa Hernandez. “Now that I see what they have to offer, I want to come back and bring my kids to come to look at the history that they have here."
"My five-year-old who's at school gets to hear about it, so we've come,” said attendee Tia Messner. “She's excited to come on her own and see what her other sister talks about, so it’s just kind of a neat opportunity to learn more about the museum, as well as the class itself.”
Parents and grandparents are welcome to bring their infant or toddler for the one-hour yoga session.
Toddler Yoga is held every Thursday morning at the Coos History Museum from 10:30 to 11:30.
