INDIAN HEAD PARK, Ill. (WKRC) - A police officer in Illinois was charged with shooting his son during an apparent argument over a bottle of vodka.

On Dec. 11, Ray Leuser, a sergeant with the Indian Head Park Police Department, reportedly called in sick for his shift, went to a neighborhood store and made purchases that included vodka.

Overnight, his 22-year-old son drank some of the vodka and replaced it with water.

Once Leuser noticed, an argument ensued and Leuser allegedly shot his son in the stomach, shoulders and thigh. He is in critical condition.

The 48-year old cop was charged with the attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm and was held without bond.
