Grandma & mayor shoots, kills 12-foot gator in Texas; 'Don't mess with Nana'
LIVINGSTON, Tx. (WSET) -- A grandma in Texas is making headlines for killing a huge gator.
Judy Cochran is the town's mayor and your typical nana, but she just shot a 12-foot alligator that was in the pond on her family's ranch.
She believes the massive gator is responsible for eating a miniature horse that went missing from the ranch three years ago.
"This is what I killed on Monday and several wrote back, no you did not. I said yes, I did do that," Cochran told KTRK after she put the photo up on Facebook.
The gator was 580 pounds and was killed after one shot in the head.
The county in Texas is one of a few core counties where you can only kill a gator 20 days of the year.
It has to be baited and caught first.
KTRK reported that the gator is now at a local taxidermist where its head and tail will be mounted.
Cochran said she'll have the body of the gator made into boots.
