Coast Guard crew rescues man from waters of Bellingham Bay

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Coast Guard boat crew rescued a man from the chilly waters of Bellingham Bay on Sunday evening.

The 29-foot rescue boat crew responded to the scene at about 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a man was struggling and flailing his arms after wading into the waters of Bellingham Bay 20 minutes earlier.

The crew rescued the man and brought him to shore, where medics transferred him to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham. His condition was not immediately available.

Weather at time of the incident was reported with a water temperature of 46 degrees and 10 mph winds.
