Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship passenger suffering kidney failure off coast of Coos Bay

A Coast Guard Sector North Bend aircrew medically evacuated a woman reportedly suffering from kidney failure while aboard a cruise ship 50 miles southwest of Coos Bay, Aug. 13, 2018. The aircrew arrived on scene aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, medevac’d the woman from the ship named Grand Princess and safely transported her to the Bay Area Hospital at 12:50 p.m. U.S. Coast Guard video.

COOS BAY, Ore. - A Coast Guard aircrew from North Bend medically evacuated a woman suffering from kidney failure while aboard a cruise ship 50 miles southwest of Coos Bay on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard received a request for help from the crew of the Grand Princess at 10:30 a.m.

The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew responded to the cruise ship and hoisted the woman aboard.

The crew flew her to the Bay Area Hospital at 12:50 p.m.

Her identity and condition were not available.
