Man found clinging to capsized boat in Cowlitz River
KELSO, Wash. —
Deputies helped save a man who was clinging to his capsized boat for about an hour in the Cowlitz River Thursday afternoon.
Cowlitz County Sheriff's deputies say they were called to the river when the outboard motor on 57-year-old Wayne Snaza's 12-foot aluminum boat became loose. His boat capsized, and Snaza fell into the water.
He didn't have a life vest with him, and declined medical transport.
"The water is still dangerous cold this time of year and people need to be very cautious. Boaters should wear life vests so if an accident happens they are prepared," Commander Charlie Rosenzweig said.
