Salmon shark washes ashore in Newport: 'They don't typically attack humans'
NEWPORT, Ore. – A young salmon shark recently washed up on Nye Beach in Newport.
These sharks wash ashore throughout the year, but most are found during the summer season.
Salmon shark mothers give live birth off the coast. Oregon Coast Aquarium staff said this particular juvenile shark was “unable to thrive.”
"No need to fear - salmon sharks do not typically attack humans," the Oregon Coast Aquarium said.
According to officials, Oregon has never had a reported bite.
