Sheriff: Teen went over Steelhead Falls on Deschutes River; rescue in progress
CROOKED RIVER RANCH, Ore. - A 16-year-old boy accidentally went down the waterfall at Steelhead Falls on the Deschutes River on Wednesday.
The call came in to 911 at 3 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said.
The caller said the teen went over the falls while swimming in the river with family and friends, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies and Crooked River Ranch Fire and Rescue "responded to the scene and are in the process of rescuing the young man and they plan to airlift the victim to Bend."
