COOS BAY, Ore. -- The Marshfield Pirates are headed for the 4A football state championship game this weekend in Hillsboro.

It's Marshfield's first appearance in a title game since 1994.

The Pirates beat the Ontario Tigers in the semifinals Saturday and will take on top-ranked Cottage Grove in the title game this coming Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.

Marshfield's last state title came in 1992 when they defeated Ashland.

Pirates head coach John Lemmons says they'll approach this game like any other.

"We’ll try not to get wound too tight, too nervous,” says Lemmons, “just to play relaxed and have fun and put a little more of a special effort out this week, spend a little more time on giving a little better effort in practice and just mentally prepare ourselves."

Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
